Digital television (DTV) is the transmission of audio and video by digitally processed and multiplexed signal, in contrast to the totally analog and channel separated signals used by analog television. It is an innovative service that represents a significant evolution in television technology since color television in the 1950s.There are four different widely used digital television terrestrial broadcasting standards:

  • Advanced Television System Committee uses eight-level vestigial sideband for terrestrial broadcasting. This standard has been adopted by six countries, United States, Canada, Mexico, South Korea, Dominican Republic and Honduras.

Pros: offers more channels, high quality image, high quality sound.

Analog (or analogue
is the analog transmission that involves the broadcasting of encoded analog audio and analog video signal one in which the information to be transmitted, the brightness and colors of the points in the image and the sound waves of the audio signal are represented by continuous variations of some aspect of the signal
Pros - More accurate and uses less bandwidth
Cons -The effects of random noise can make signal loss and distortion impossible to

Pay Per View:
This is a type of pay television service by which a subscriber of a television service provider can purchase events to view via private telecast. The broadcaster shows the event at the same time to everyone ordering it. Events can be purchased using an on-screen guide, an automated telephone system.
